Joan Roberts, born in Schonberg, Germany on Oct. 9, 1950, passed away June 29 at her daughter’s home surrounded by loved ones after a brief illness.

She graduated from Martin County High School in Stuart, Fla. She was a certified nurse’s aide for many years. She was a waitress for 30 years. Owners of the restaurants and customers loved her. She had an amazing memory, and she would bring their drinks to their table as they sat down. She made many friends and those who knew her loved her. 

Roberts is survived by her husband David M. Roberts of 39 years; children Renee (Keith) Ferguson of Glendale, Ky., David (Kristin) Kirkland of Hobe Sound, Fla.; grandchildren Natasha Ferguson (Alex Carnes) of Sonora, Ky., Quinn (Victoria) Kirkland of Hobe Sound, Kileigh Kirkland of Hobe Sound, step granddaughter Kira (Rob) Ferguson Saylor of Ozark, Ala.; step great grandchildren Corey and Paige Saylor of Ozark; a great granddaughter of Hobe Sound; identical twin sister June Meacham VanGurrin of Palm City, Fla.; nephews Rusty (Amy) Meacham of Stuart and John (Sara) Meacham of Henderson, Minn.; three great nephews and one great niece. 

She was preceded in death by her parents John and Doris Grim, and family members on the Roberts side of the family. She loved them just as much as they loved her. 

Mrs. Roberts was happy to be able to FaceTime her great granddaughter while battling her illness. 

A celebration of life will be held Sept. 24 at Oasis Church, located at 213 E. Main Street. Entrance at the back of the building.
