A pillar of the McMinnville business community which has made a lot of figurative and literal noise in Depot Bottom for over a century made a quiet exit, unnoticed by many, on Thursday, April 18. McMinnville Manufac­turing closed its doors for the last time that day with little fanfare and little notice. I contacted McMinnville Manufacturing owner Jeff Mellencamp of Chattanooga for details about the unfortunate turn of events. "After enjoying 112 years of manufacturing hardwood flooring there, we're sad to announce we've had to cease operations," Mellencamp said.
