Homecoming 2012

The Warren County Homecoming Parade was changed to Thursday night in an effort to encourage community involvement. It was a success, with much of the parade route filled with students, teachers, parents and those who just love a parade.
The students and their float sponsors did not disappoint, with an assortment of modes of transportation represented. A paddle boat, a monster truck, a police paddy wagon and a farm tractor all were used in some method to mutilate their opponent, the Raiders.
Senior students took a real truck, covered it with tissue paper, gave it a huge moving mouth with teeth and had fire shooting from the exhaust pipes. Emblazoned on the side of the truck was “Raider Hater,” with a large Pioneer football player riding in the back. Students donned matching black shirts with an improvised car tag touting the theme — RADR-H8TR.
“Pioneers Full Steam Ahead” was displayed in red, white and blue across the junior’s float. It featured a large steam-powered boat with a revolving paddle at the rear.
A green John Deere tractor sought revenge against the Raiders by “plowing” them into the ground. A plow was actually working over an improvised Raider, as Pioneer players led the fight.
Freshmen were very creative with their Pioneer Police Paddy Wagon, a black vehicle with a barred cage holding a very unhappy Raider. Their theme across the side said “Arrest the Raiders!”
WCHS employee and student sponsor Pam Youngblood said, “Everyone I talked to felt the parade was a huge success. It was cooler, and it seemed the crowd didn’t get so antsy because of the heat.”
