Ms. Bettye Joann Todd, 78, of McMinnville, passed peacefully while surrounded by family and friends on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024, at Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro. She was born May 10, 1945 in McMinnville, was a retired nurse with Woodbury Medical Center where she was known as “Nurse Good Body," a member of Friendship The Baptist Church, was an outstanding majorette during her years at Central High School and was preceded in death by father, G.L. “Coon” Barnes; mother, Dorothy Alene Raper Barnes; brother, Edward Lynn Barnes; and grand-niece, Isabella Lee Hunt.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Leslie Hayes; boyfriend, Donnie Hill; sister, Jimmye Lee Poss Richards and husband Bob; brother, Ronald Dean “Deimer” Barnes and wife Ann; grandchildren, Joe (Becky) Clark and Cora (Johnny) Rains; and great grandchild, Deacon Curtis Rains. Very special nieces, nephews, family members and friends also surviving.
Funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7 in the McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Steve Breedlove will officiate. Interment will follow at Mt. View Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of service at the parlors of McMinnville Funeral Home.
