Mr. Billy Burke Cooke, 87, of McMinnville, died Thursday, Sept. 22, 2022 at his residence. He was born Dec. 12, 1934, in Bedford County, was a truck driver with the U.S. Postal service and a Church of Christ preacher, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, and a member of East End Church of Christ. Mr. Cooke was preceded in death by parents James Robert and Dixie Juanita Hollandsworth Cooke; wife of 66 years Anna Ruth Hubbard Cooke; brother James Oscar Cooke; and great-grandchild Christian Gudat.
Survivors include his children Terry Cooke, Darris Cooke, Linda Griffin, and Dawn Cooke; sister Linda Darlene Roberts; ten grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, & family friends.
Funeral service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26, at McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. James Macdonald will officiate. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery. Military grave rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 173 and V.F.W. Post 5064. Visitation with the Cooke family will be held on Sunday from noon until 8 p.m. and again on Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. at McMinnville Funeral Home.
