Mrs. Doris Bennett Smith, 93, of Fort Payne, Ala., passed away on Monday, Oct. 16. She was born on July 27, 1930 in McMinnville. Mrs. Smith worked as a guide at Sequoyah Caverns in Valley Head, Ala. for many years.

She is survived by sons, Calvin Mark Smith, Jeff Smith (Elizabeth) and  Chris Smith; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was in death by parents, Elmer F. Bennett and Velma Grace McAfee Bennett; husband, C. C. “Smitty” Smith; siblings, Leroy Bennett, Franklin Bennett (Helen), J. W. Bennett, Joyce Ann Bennett Argo and  Mary Louise Bennet Blankenship (Jimmy).

The family is accepting flowers.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, Oct. 18 at Burt Chapel-Valley Head, Ala. from 4 - 8 p.m. Funeral will be Thursday, Oct. 19 at 11 a.m. at Burt Chapel-Valley Head, Ala. Burial will be Thursday, Oct. 19 at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in McMinnville.
