McMinnville resident and Van Buren County native James Gilbert Kell, age 92, was born Feb. 26, 1919 and died Dec. 11 at River Park Hospital following a lingering illness.A merchant and member of the Bybee Branch Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Samuel Oscar and Edna Jane Roberts Kell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Roger Kell and two sisters, Geneva Kell Terry and Kathleen Kell Pennington.He was married to Willene Terry Kell of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Annette Kell and Terrell Kell, all of McMinnville; daughter, Joyce Kell Rigsby of McMinnville; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.Funeral service was held Wednesday in High's Chapel with Tony Lawrence officiating.
