John Morris Scott, 81

I-30 resident and Warren County native John Morris Scott, 81, was born Nov. 21, 1941 and died Feb. 26, 2023 at Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro following a brief illness.           

A farmer, nurseryman and member of Blue Springs Cove Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Lincoln and Anna Davey Scott.  He was married to Juanita Scott who preceded him in death on Aug. 4, 2022. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by son, Greg Scott and two brothers, Melvin and Martin Scott.

Mr. Scott is survived by daughter, Rachel (Gary) Hillis of the Centertown community; grandchildren, Shelley Reno of Cookeville and Skyler Scott of Viola; nephew, Nathan (Marsha) Scott of Viola; nieces, Melanie Scott-Welch (Dick) of McMinnville and Marlene Prichard of Alexandria and sister-in-law, Barbara Scott of McMinnville.

Graveside service and interment will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 2 at Riverside Cemetery in Warren County with Gary Newby officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. at High’s. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery on Thursday.
