Lillian Ruth Brock Walker, 83, passed peacefully to her Heavenly home on Friday, Jan. 19, 2024.
Lillian was born to Lewis and Hazel Brock on Oct. 8, 1940, in Englewood, Tenn. She was married to her husband, Kenneth Walker, for seven years.
Lillian was a devoted Christian. She earned a Christian Counseling certification in the late 1980s through an intensive biblical study that took two years to complete. Lillian used her faith-based knowledge of the Bible to specialize in helping counsel individuals affected by drug and alcohol addiction. Lillian also helped build up and support many churches in and around her community. She loved telling people about Jesus' gift of salvation.
Lillian earned a living as a cake decorator. She managed a bakery and made some of the most beautiful wedding cakes.
Lillian was an excellent cook and loved her flower and garden beds. She also was a quilter and made many beautiful quilts for her family.
Lillian especially loved and was so proud of her large family. She was one of 14 children. She always talked about how blessed she was to be a part of a wonderful family which had each other's backs no matter what.
Lillian was preceded in death by her son, Lewis Bearfield; parents, Lewis and Hazel Brock; and nine siblings, Robert Brock, Kenneth Brock, Curtis Brock, Aline Brock, Billy Ray Brock, Mary Ann Brock Trew, Betty Sue Brock Roberts, Ruby Lee Brock Russell, and Paul Brock.
Lillian is survived by her loving husband of seven years, Kenneth Lee Walker; her daughter, Carla Smith and husband, Scott Smith; three grandchildren, Chancy Beth Medley and her husband, Jay Medley, Paul Holden Gillis and his wife, Summer Gillis, Mackensey Jordan Gillis and his wife, Cassandra Gillis; and three great-grandchildren, Kiptyn Macoy Medley, Tenlee Cate Medley, and Ridge Vernon Gillis; one sister, Juanita Brock Egner; three brothers, Amos Brock, Lewis Brock, Jr., and Tommy Brock; and a multitude of nieces and nephews.
Lillian leaned into God's example daily, and she is now rejoicing at the feet of her Saviour. Her life was filled with many beautiful memories, and her family will miss her dearly.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 24, at Gardens of Memory Cemetery located in McMinnville in the Smartt community.
