McMinnville resident and Warren County native Michael “Chipmunk” Freeman, age 23, was born Oct. 1, 2001 and died March 29, 2025 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro following an extended illness.

A master welder with Wilson’s Tool and Die and member of the Baptist Church, he was the son of Angela McKnight of McMinnville and the late Jason Edward Freeman.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by a sister, Mattie Freeman of McMinnville; maternal grandmother, Brenda Brymer of McMinnville; paternal grandparents, Robert and Dorothy Freeman of McMinnville; aunts, Dorinda McKnight, Sandra Gum, Jennifer Acosta and Donna Church; uncle, Robert (Laura) Freeman, Jr.; special cousins, Ethan “Repeat” Taylor, Ali (Dylan) Meeks, Cito Garcia, Brianna Garcia, Geneva Smith and her sons, Michael and Thomas and many other cousins; special friend, Boonie Thrower and his brothers of Silent Creed MC.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2025 in High’s Chapel with Anthony Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Shellsford Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. until time of service Saturday at High’s.
