McMinnville resident and Louisville, Ky., native Murl Brents George Jr., 74, was born Nov. 18, 1947 and died May 7 at St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville following an extended illness.           

A retired supervisor from A.O. Smith and a member of Northside Baptist Church, he was the son of the late Murl Brents and Virginia Ruth Wright George Sr.

He was married on Dec. 24, 1965 to Diana George, who preceded him in death on July 18, 2017.  

Mr. George is survived by daughters Amy (Jamie) Phillips of Knoxville, and Tammy (Davis) Lamb of Brentwood, three grandchildren, Will, Clay and Olivia Lamb, two sisters Debbie (Fred) Higdon of Mt. Juliet, and Joy (Quinn) Templeton of Sparta, aunt Betty Sparkman of Sparta and several nieces and nephews.

Masonic graveside service and interment will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 11, at Friendship Cemetery in Warren County with Steve Breedlove officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Online condolences may be made at www.highfuneralhome.com.
