Stella Jean Golden Parker Grissom, 80, of McMinnville (Wayside community) died Friday, Sept. 18 at her residence.
She was born Dec. 10, 1934, was retired as a factory worker and school system employee,  member of Highland Church of Christ, was a wonderful wife, amazing mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her family and great dear friend to many who were fortunate enough to know her.
She was preceded in death by parents Alaska Elcana and Josie Estella Pryor Golden, husbands J. D. Parker Sr., and Paul K. Grissom, sisters Pauline Gribble, Henrietta Patton Mabrey, and Doris Whitlock, and brothers Arthur Golden, Hubert  (Hoss) Golden, and Austin Golden.
Survivors include her daughter Jennifer Stella Parker, son John Douglas Parker Jr., grandchildren Lacey Jean West and John Douglas Parker III, and his wife Sarah, great-grandchildren Noya and Iris Parker, sisters Nelta Cantrell and Alice Cantrell, brother Edwin Golden, stepdaughter Gayle (Stacy) Caldwell, and caregivers Emma Baker and Nichol Greathouse.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, at Wayside Community Center. There will be no visitation at the funeral home as family and friends will meet at Wayside Community Center for the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis or to The Hope Lodge in Nashville.
