William ‘Bill’ Joseph McCoy, 78, resident of McMinnville, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 10, at his residence surrounded by his loving wife and children.

Bill was born March 6, 1944, in Morristown, Tenn. and was the son of the late Herman Eugene and the late Margret Elizabeth Winstead McCoy. Bill graduated from ETSU in 1971. In his professional life he worked in a wide variety of fields, including real estate, owning McCoy Hardware, selling mining equipment, managing drug stores across Middle and East Tennessee and eventually retiring from Oster. 

He is survived by his loving wife, Lisa McCoy of McMinnville; sons, Jace (Rachel) McCoy of Columbia, and Zach (Crystal) Minnich of Indiana; daughters Ashley Minnich of McMinnville, Amber (Levi) Fairbanks of Sparta, and Gabriella Minnich of New York; as well as 10 grandchildren. 

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Sept. 15, at 2 p.m. at Bates Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church located at 6111 Old Nashville Hwy, McMinnville. Family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until the service starts.

McMinnville resident and Athens, AL native Billy Wayne Stoner, age 74, was born May 24, 1950 and died suddenly on March 11, 2025 at Ascension St. Thomas River Park Hospital in McMinnville.

A retired employee of Middle Tennessee Natural Gas and a member of the Baptist church, he was the son of the late Grover and Dorothy Stoner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Glen Stoner, Wendell (Sarah) Stoner and Jerry Stoner.

Mr. Stoner loved to golf, fish and go camping. He loved his family and always put them first.

He was married to Linda Stoner of McMinnville on Jan. 6, 1970. In addition to his wife, Mr. Stoner is survived by two children, Terry (Tami) Stoner and Tammy Stoner (Dana Crouch), both of McMinnville; four grandchildren, Tyler (Whitney) Stoner, Caitlin (Austin) Orman, Heather Moats and Brooklyn (John) Rigsby; two great-grandsons, Ryker Rigsby and Rowen Rigsby; three brothers, Bobby Stoner, Mike Stoner and Kenneth Stoner, all of McMinnville; two sisters, Marie (Louie) Mason of McMinnville and Doris (Bob) Asbury of Murfreesboro; several nieces and nephews and two sisters-in-law, Jannette Stoner and Connie Stoner.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2025 in High’s Chapel with Paul Cunningham and Johnny Haston to officiate. Interment will follow at Bethany Cemetery in Warren County. Visitation will be Monday from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at High’s.
