Have you heard about the “Battle of King’s Mountain?” It was an American Revolutionary War battle fought Oct. 7, 1780 on a cluster of hills in South Carolina. The Battle of King’s Mountain pitted British Major Patrick Ferguson and his mostly American Loyalist forces against Colonel William Campbell and his American Patriot militia. The brash young Ferguson had already threatened the patriots with destruction by “fire and sword,” if they dared to fight him.
