“Carve the turkey, turn the ball game on.”
Robert Earl Keen, “Merry Christmas from the Family,” 1994
By the time most of you are reading this, you have my most heartfelt congratulations.
You made it through Christmas, once again. The shopping, the traveling from one family group to the next, the endless hours of cheesy holiday movies on your TV at work which would ABSOLUTELY DRIVE YOU BATTY IF IT WASN’T FOR THE FEW HOURS RESPITE YOU SPEND WATCHING ACCUSED CRIMINALS BEING ARRAIGNED AND SENTENCED AT THE COURTHOUSE THAT GET YOU AWAY FROM YOUR EDITOR’S INSISTENCE ON STAYING IN THE “SPIRIT OF THE SEASON” WITH EVERYTHING HE CAN FIND ON THE STREAMING SERVICES ...
(Columnist’s note: I apologize for the above outburst. I’m not quite sure where that came from. Let’s continue.)
