My colleague Jeffery Simmons wrote a lovely column in Sunday's Southern Standard touting his win as best sportswriter in Group III at last Friday's Tennessee Press Association (TPA) awards in Franklin. He certainly has reason to be proud. The TPA awards are basically the Super Bowl for Tennessee newspapers, so it's a big deal any time you can earn a TPA award.
