Jeffery Simmons has worked at the Southern Standard for eight years. After graduating from the University of Tennessee, Simmons accepted the sports writing position in 2010. He has also served as a composer and advertising director at the Standard. He is currently in his fourth year as sports editor, where he’s been honored as the Tennessee Press Association sports writer of the year in 2015. Simmons is graduate of Warren County High School.

Simmons is a sports fanatic, supporting the University of Tennessee football team, San Antonio Spurs and Jacksonville Jaguars. His fandom has taken him all over the United States, including trips to Oregon, Oklahoma, Notre Dame and Texas to see the Vols.
