While Morrison gave all it had Tuesday, the Centertown Lady Warriors ended the 7-8 grade year the same way they started it: Dominating.

Centertown finished a second straight perfect year in local basketball with a 37-11 victory over the Lady Eagles at Charlie Dalton Gym, completing a sweep of the preseason, regular season and tournament titles in the 7-8 grade league. Karsyn Mathis was named the tournament MVP, scoring a game-high 16 points for the Lady Warriors in the title game.

Even without league- leading scorer Rylee Young, injured in the team's big win over Boyd in the semifinals, Centertown wasn't going to settle for anything less than a title Tuesday. Morrison kept the game close for a quarter, trailing just 6-5 after six minutes, but the Lady Warriors put on the press in the second half to outscore the Lady Eagles 22-4 in the final half.

Mathis banked in a 3-pointer to get Centertown rolling in the second quarter, then Kate Williams - tasked with the tough assignment of battling Morrison's star center Baylee Vincion - stepped out to hit a 3-pointer in the third quarter.

Mathis and Kinslee Jarvis took care of the scoring from there, with Mathis piling up points in the paint and Jarvis turning steals into scores as Centertown's lead swelled to 33-11 by the end of the third quarter.

Mathis scored the game's final four points late before time ticked off and the final horn started another celebration for Centertown.

Jarvis finished with nine points for the Lady Warriors, followed by five from Williams, four from Charley Wilson and three from Reese Reinitz.

Addison Allen led Morrison with five points. Ella Pennywell added four and Vincion finished with two.
