Milner Recreation Center offers spring break activities

If you’re not headed to the beach this spring break, stop by Milner Recreation Center for some fun. The Rec Center will be holding activities every day this week beginning at 1 p.m.

Kids ages 8-18 are eligible to participate for $2. Kids 8 and over can participate with parental permission. Kids 12 and over can participate on their own.

No preregistration is required. Sign up the day of the event. Prizes will be awarded to first- and second-place finishers. Call 473-1212 with questions or for more info.

• Monday – 3-point contest and free throw contest

• Tuesday – Dodgeball

• Wednesday – Cornhole tourney

• Thursday – Nerf 5 v 5 Tournament. Participants are encouraged to bring their own gun and ammo as the Rec Center has a limited supply

• Friday – 3-on-3 basketball tournament

Get ready To skate

Hey dude, get ready to skate.

McMinnville Parks and Recreation is offering a free spring skateboard clinic April 2 at the skate park at Milner Recreation Center.

The clinic is touted as a way to gain confidence and to learn the fundamental skills of skateboarding. Free helmets will be provided by Pinnacle Orthopaedics and free instruction will be given by Vivid Skate.

The skate park, made available by a grant from the Steve and Kate Smith Fund, has been a widely popular place for skaters to flash their skills since its inception. It features ramps, rails and everything necessary to get your best skate on.

Three sessions will be offered April 2. Ages 6-12 can attend clinics at 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Ages 13 and older can attend a clinic at 1 p.m.

WCHS baseball blanked at Columbia

The Warren County baseball team was back in action Tuesday evening with a road district matchup against Columbia.

A hot start from the Lions sent the Pioneers home early in a 14-0, 4.5 inning loss.

Warren County came up empty at the plate, being held hitless over the course of the game.

On the mound, Lealon Arnold pitched 1.1 innings and came off with two hits, three runs and four walks. Up next was Hayven Jones, who finished with two strikeouts, three hits, seven runs and two walks in 0.2 innings. Keaton Rowe followed, allowing four hits, four runs and one walk over the remaining two innings.
