The Southern Standard wants to take the opportunity to highlight the standout Warren County athletes. Partnering with R3 Logistics and Mud Bums Family Sports Grill, we will be honoring a Pioneer of the Week throughout the 2022-23 school year. Our honorees from Dec. 25-31 are WCHS Lady Pioneers Trinity Reynolds and Brinlee Griffith.

Winning is always fun, but doing it side-by-side with family makes it even more special. Trinity Reynolds and Brinlee Griffith have grown up playing basketball together and now they're budding stars in the Lady Pioneer basketball program.

Reynolds and Griffith helped lead the WCHS girls JV basketball team to a championship in Washington DC last week, guiding the Lady Pioneers to 60-9 and 68-8 blowouts in the Silver Springs Holiday Tournament.

Shootouts and playing games at every family outing helped build an unbreakable bond between the cousins, even if they may sometimes like to compete with each other in practice and the backyard just as much as they like to take on opponents when their wearing the same uniform. Once they're united though, they can form an unstoppable duo.

Their games have complimentary styles, as each can shoot, pass and attack. They have no trouble sharing the spotlight as long as their team is winning, as evidenced by their play in DC. Both players were named all-tournament for their efforts in huge wins powered by their lights-out shooting, brilliant defense and unselfish play.

They joined together Jenna Newby, Bri Taylor, Jayla Garibaldi, Addison Smith and Kennedi Pegg to dominate Seneca Valley in the semifinals last week in Washington DC. The fearsome group, led by Griffith and Reynolds, also wasted no time taking down B-CC in the championship game.

After the wins, the group was able to tour around the nation's capital, taking in all the historic sights. Griffith and Reynolds were always traveling in the same group too -- even 600 miles away from home, they were pretty much inseparable.
