Ask about who were the best to ever wear uniforms for the Lady Pioneers and two recent names will pop up. Ally Beneke and Lauren Slatton will forever be known to Warren County fans after their dominant 2023 seasons.

Beneke won the high jump championship for the second time in May, becoming the first-ever Warren County athlete to be a two-time state champion, while Lauren Slatton became the first female individual winner of a golf state championship in October.

Nobody had to carry the weight of expectations more than Beneke in 2023 after she claimed her first state title a year prior. Several athletes from across the state tried to knock her off the top of the podium, but nobody could soar higher than the talented Lady Pioneer when the bar was set.

Beneke made her last jump memorable as she broke her own school record while winning the state title in Mufreesboro. Beneke cleared 5-foot-8 on her final jump, beating the mark she had set at the state competition in 2022 by one inch.

Likewise, Slatton made sure the final season she represented Warren County was a memorable one. She piled up championships on her way to the state, including claiming her fourth individual district title and third region championship during postseason play.

In the final tournament - one Warren County's top female golfer qualified for in each of her four seasons as a Lady Pioneer - Slatton was head and shoulders above the rest of the field. Only two rounds below par were submitted over two days by a group of 46 golfers and both were turned in by Slatton.

She won the event by seven strokes, becoming the first golfer from Warren County since Scott Haile (1980-81) to win a title on the links.

Beneke is currently competing for the Tennessee Tech track team while Slatton will have another year in school before picking from several interested colleges.
