The WC Elite basketball program has set tryout dates for the upcoming summer basketball season. The program will field boys and girls teams in grades 3-8 as well as high school programs.

Tryouts, all of which will be held at Charlie Dalton Gym, will begin Saturday, Jan. 25. Boys in grades 3-4 will try out from 10-11 a.m., followed by tryouts for girls in grades 3-4 from 11 a.m. until noon. Tryouts for boys and girls in fifth grade will be from noon until 1 p.m.

Middle school kids will try out on Saturday, Feb. 1 at the following times: sixth graders from 10-11 a.m., seventh graders from 11 a.m. until noon and eighth graders from 12-1 p.m. Boys and girls will try out at the same time.

“Our main goal of the WC Elite program: We are preparing any and every child interested or possibly interested in playing high school basketball at WCHS for the future by joining them together at young ages and building their relationships, all while building their basketball skills. It’s hard to build a house, without a foundation and we strive to be that foundation,” said Elite Basketball in a Facebook post promoting tryouts.

Elite basketball organizer Lacey Slatton also noted there will be no late tryouts. If an athlete wants to try out, they must attend their scheduled time and date. All athletes will play in their respective grades and Slatton has noted there will be only one team per grade this season after having multiple teams in a few grades last year.

A brief parent meeting will held after each grade tryout.
