WCHS baseball splits Saturday slate, softball falls to Coffee

The Warren County baseball team stayed active this past weekend with a pair of games Saturday.

Kicking off the day against Gallatin, the Pioneers fell behind late in a 12-2 loss to the Green Wave in six innings.

Warren County had eight hits over the course of the game, with two each for both Woogs Bryan and Hayven Jones. Tyler Adams, Ryder Gilispie, Jerren Harris and Adrian Harris all followed with one hit each. For Adams, this came as a solo home run in the top of the third inning.

Adams and Jerren Harris were each credited with one RBI for a team total of two.

On the mound, Gilispie pitched the first three innings and finished with three strikeouts, four hits and one run. Jones came on in the bottom of the fourth inning, striking out one and adding six hits, nine runs and four walks before getting pulled in the bottom of the fifth. Keagan Thompson closed it out, surrendering another two hits and two runs over the game’s remainder.

The Pioneers were able to bounce back in their return to the field later that day, shutting out Clarksville on the way to a 10-0, five-inning victory.

Warren County posted 12 hits this time around, led by Jones with three. Gilispie and Adrian Harris followed with two each. Adams, Jerren Harris, Sam Robinson, Corban Felton and Brady Norris all added one hit each, with a two-run home run coming for Jerren Harris in the bottom of the third inning.

Jerren Harris notched two of the team’s seven RBI, with one each for Adams, Gilispie, Jones, Bryan and Adrian Harris.

Lealon Arnold pitched a complete game, striking out two and holding Clarksville to one run and one walk over all five innings.

Lady Pioneers routed

Warren County softball’s three-game winning streak came to a close in a rematch with Coffee County Friday evening. Like the two teams’ earlier meeting this season, the Lady Pioneers were once again held scoreless, giving up eight runs in the top of the fourth inning on the way to an 11-0, five-inning loss.

The team was held to two hits, with one each for Lola Wells and Cortlyn Porter.

Ceilee Gudat got it started in the circle, striking out two and allowing nine hits, eight runs and two walks until coming out in the top of the fourth inning. Kyaira Sharpe relieved Gudat and added five hits and three runs over the remaining innings.
