Monday morning found the main lobby of McMinnville City Hall filled with organizations which serve residents of Warren County. The city of McMinnville Community Develop-ment Department held Community Resource Day as a way to educate the community on various available resources.
“With Community Resources Day, the city of McMinnville sought to go the extra mile for our citizens by bringing together nonprofits and partners under one roof. It gave community members a chance to easily learn about services and support available to families in our area.” said city community planner Katie Kemezis.

Organizations:
• Tennessee College of Applied Technology representatives were on-site to discuss higher education and learning.
• City of McMinnville Community Develop-ment Department’s Lyndon Bussell was available to answer questions.
• Meals on Wheels displayed information which described its delivery of daily cooked meals to the elderly or shut-ins.
• McMinnville’s Fire Station 1 provided fire prevention and safety tips. Scott Norrod and Marty White were on hand to assist with those efforts.
• My Father’s Closet offers emergency clothing and supplies for children who are found in an emergency situation.
• CHEER Mental Health resources were available along with staff members Stacy Lee and Desiree Brickle who were on-hand to discuss with anyone who may be suffering or is a caretaker of someone suffering from mental illness.
• Caring Hears United provided an informational display which described their services to hospice patients by providing gas cards for medical appointments, hospital bed sheets, care packages, early holiday gifts and more. Alma Shoemaker was also available to answer questions.
• UCHRA’s Carrie Baker was on hand to discuss rental and electric assistance. Maps for city bus routes and other information regarding transportation assistance was also made available.
• Warren County Emergency Food Bank director Helen Owens was on hand to discuss hours of operations and services.
• Families in Crisis executive director Kristy Stubblefield and Courtney Breedlove provided a large display of resources available and were available to answer questions.
• HOME - Homeless of McMinnville Efforts board secretary Connie Fox was on hand to discuss assistance and volunteer opportunities.
The event was well received by both the public and participating organizations.
“It’s been great to show the public what Families in Crisis has to offer outside of the shelter. We have always been known for our shelter, but we do so much more.” said Kristy Stubblefield.
Collectively, these agencies and organizations provides assistance to tens of thousands of Warren County residents and offer a vast array of volunteer opportunities.
