Attempts to hide evidence fail repeatedly

A man who tried and tried to dispose of evidence fell short and is charged with tampering with evidence, as well as possession of drugs.The suspect, Michael Anthony Murphy, 55, of Liberty is charged with tampering with evidence and possession of meth and drug paraphernalia. He will face hearing Feb. 6.Murphy was pulled over by sheriff’s investigator Steven Carpenter for a vehicle violation and the drug dog was allowed to inspect the vehicle. The canine alerted on the vehicle and Murphy was asked to step out.“While emptying his pockets, he threw a green container that contained a small baggie of a crystal substance believed to be methamphetamine,” the investigator revealed, noting he patted the suspect down and found another container on him, this one with four alprazolam pills.“The container was placed on the hood of my vehicle,” the investigator said.

Pacesetters building inches closer to surplus

The location formerly known as the Pacesetters building is one successful read away from being declared surplus by the City of McMinnville. During Tuesday evening’s regularly scheduled Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting, the matter was brought forth after it had been recommended by the Building and Grounds Committee in the last February meeting. The committee determined, through data collected by a void analysis, the property was best used as retail or commercial real estate rather than repurposed by the city.
