City budget amendment finalized

Among items discussed during Tuesday evening’s regularly scheduled Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting was the amendment of the 2024-25 budget. This amendment sought to redesignate funds originally set aside for the now-defunct Tourism Development Board and the newly created Tourism and Marketing Department. The funds, a total of $463,792, are a blend of hotel/motel and occupancy taxes, both of which are required by the State of Tennessee to be used for tourism efforts. Of this balance, $105,912 is reportedly being used to furnish the combined salary and benefits of the director of the department.
