Get your baskets ready because the annual McMinnville Parks and Recreation Easter Egg Hunt is this Saturday.
The Easter Egg Hunt is this Saturday, March 30 at the Milner Recreation Center. The egg hunts have been divided into five different age groups. Ages 0-2 will hunt eggs at 9 a.m. at the Hoover-Millraney field. Ages 3-4 will hunt eggs at 10:45 a.m. at the Hoover Millraney field. Ages 8-10 will hunt eggs at 9 a.m. at the Jungle Jym. Ages 11-14 will hunt eggs at the Jungle Jym at 10:45 a.m. and ages 5-7 will hunt eggs at the Jungle Jym at 12 p.m.
The cost to hunt is $3 per child. Participants can preregister at tnmcminnvilleweb.myvscloud.com or the day of the hunt. Recreation Program Coordinator Rene Alvarez says participants can preregister up until Thursday evening. Alvarez recommends those registering on March 30 to come a few minutes early.
“Once 9 a.m. hits we will start letting the kids loose,” said Alvarez.
Like last year, there will not be candy in the eggs the children collect. Instead, each child will receive a goody bag following the hunt.
“We are doing the goody bags again this year. I think it worked out well and we can ensure that the kids get to participate in the activity of collecting eggs, but they are going home with the same amount of candy and treats,” said Alvarez.
Tree City Realty is sponsoring the special prize this year. Each age group will have a chance to find the golden egg and win the prize basket.
“There are two golden eggs per age group. Tree City Realty is again sponsoring and providing these golden egg prizes,” said Alvarez.
Last year, it rained on the day of the annual egg hunt. Only two age groups actually got to participate in the egg hunt before McMinnville Parks and Recreation made the call to move things indoor. The rain-out plan last year was similar to a raffle. The kids who attended selected an egg with a number on it and organizers randomly drew two numbers to see who got the prize basket.
This year, Alvarez is hoping the rain stays away and participants actually get to go hunt eggs.
“I am looking forward to letting them participate,” said Alvarez.
