A book review begins at 2 p.m. at Rock Island Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Dr. Bill Campbell will present a 45-minute review of the book “The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek” by Kim Michele Richardson. Water and fellowship on the front porch immediately following.

Covenant Academy’s fall/ winter consignment sale will be offered from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and again on Saturday, Oct. 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Covenant Academy is located at 7225 Manchester Highway.

TWRA will hold a Hunter Education Classroom Course at Northside Baptist Church, 1574 Yager Road, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Must be 9 years old to be certified. A course is required for anyone born on or after Jan. 1, 1969 once a person turns 10 years old. Pre-register online at www.tnwildlife.org.

Warren Arts presents Sleepy HOLLOWeen, a fun family event featuring old world games, activities and attractions. The free event will be offered from 1 to 4 p.m. at Warren Arts, 5432 Manchester Highway. Have a great afternoon, but look out for the Headless Horseman at Warren Arts’ production of “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” at 7 p.m.

Cedar Grove Community Center will hold at Lunch and Bake Sale beginning at 11 a.m. Chicken and dumplings, beans and cornbread, peach cobbler.

Eastern Star Ham and Bean Dinner will be offered Nov. 5 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cost $7.50. Beans, coleslaw, onions, squash relish, dessert and drink. Take-out orders available. 

A Blood Assurance blood drive will be held at Fairview Community Center from 12 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30. Donors will receive a “Fall into Adventure” mug. Donors will be entered into a drawing to win a 2021 side-by-side. Also offered will be fish or chicken plates, dessert and drink, from 12 to 6 p.m. Adults $10, children $5.
