Depot Bottom bow bandit caught

A woman who stole two decorative bows from the door of Depot Bottom Country Store in full view of a surveillance camera has been placed on probation for a year.The woman, Wanda Joyce Drake, 72, entered a guilty plea to the charge of theft before General Sessions Judge Bill Locke. She was given an 11-month, 29-day probationary sentence and must make $10 restitution to the victim. She was also assessed a $75 plus court costs fine, that amount far higher than the $10 worth of bows she stole.According to sheriff’s investigator Aaron Roberts, Drake can be seen on surveillance camera, pulling up to the front door of Depot Bottom Country Store just after 10 p.m., long after the store was closed for the day.

Pacesetters building inches closer to surplus

The location formerly known as the Pacesetters building is one successful read away from being declared surplus by the City of McMinnville. During Tuesday evening’s regularly scheduled Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting, the matter was brought forth after it had been recommended by the Building and Grounds Committee in the last February meeting. The committee determined, through data collected by a void analysis, the property was best used as retail or commercial real estate rather than repurposed by the city.
