Longtime educator Jacob Dunn is hoping to have a positive effect on students in his new role as principal of the WCHS Business and Law Academy.

Dunn was announced as one of the five Warren County High School academy principals in June. He is a part of new executive principal Chris Hobbs’ leadership team which also includes Penny Shockley, Anna Geesling, Anthony Lippe, and Phillip King.

Dunn is a Warren County native who graduated from WCHS in 2001. He is married to his wife of 15 years, Laura, and they have two children, Stella and Hudson.

He began teaching at WCHS in 2008 and is beginning his 14th year in education this August. When the academy principal position became available, Dunn realized this would be a good way for him to positively impact students in a different way.

“It is my calling to educate young people,” said Dunn. “With this position, I hope to affect the students at Warren County High School positively while working with our administrative team, teachers, and the community to produce the best high school experience for all our students.”

In his new position, he will be the principal of Business and Law Academy where he will support students and teachers in order to produce productive citizens in the community. Although he will still be helping students, he will miss the classroom atmosphere that came with teaching.

“I will miss the personal relationship building I received daily with my students,” said Dunn.

Dunn is hoping this position will allow him to work with the teachers and help the students become successful.

“I want to help empower the student to exceed every expectation put forth in front of them to become productive members of our community in their postsecondary endeavors,” Dunn said.

The new school year is fast approaching with the first day for students on Tuesday, Aug. 9. Dunn is most looking forward to seeing students again.

“I am looking forward to the students. They keep me young and energized. Seeing the excitement of the new school year is always a joy,” said Dunn.
