Edgefield St. home lost to New Year's Day blaze

A New Year’s Day fire gutted a structure just outside downtown McMinnville.

According to a report released by the McMinnville Fire Department, firefighters responded to a working structure fire at 102 Edgefield St., just off W. Colville in the shadow of the downtown water tower, at 6:15 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Upon arrival, MFD personnel, as well as responders from Warren County EMS and the McMinnville Police Department, discovered the single-story home fully engulfed. Fortunately, no one was in the residence at the time of the fire, and personnel were able to quickly extinguish the blaze.

Fire personnel from Station 1 and Station 2 responded to the fire, along with Engine Company 8, Ladder Company 2, Truck 1, Tower 1, and Responder 1. 

According to tax records, the property is owned by Norman Todd Hutchins. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
