Thomas and Tara Mullins take Halloween very seriously, and their neighborhood is a more fun place for it. The pair has turned their house at 76 Miriah Drive into a Halloween heaven with a huge variety of decorations, both spooky and cute. There's an inflatable Mickey Mouse pumpkin, a spooky fence, a 15-foot-tall skeleton with moving eyes and even an enormous wolfman that comes to life and howls at the moon.
"Thomas and I worked on it all for around two weeks. We made the fence and columns ourselves, and that took five days, off-and-on, to complete," Tara said. "I just love Halloween. I love the color schemes and pumpkins and anything spooky. I try and keep it spooky and not morbid or too scary for kids because I love decorating for the kids."
Tara's love of Halloween started at an early age and her childhood memories inspired her to try to provide memories for today's children. "I remember trick-or-treating in my aunt's neighborhood when I was little and her whole area really got into it. They would decorate and play scary music and try to scare us as we walked up to their porches. That's one of my favorite childhood memories," she said.
It seems there's no place to look in the Mullins' yard without seeing something delightfully spooky but the couple isn't done yet. "I add more stuff every year. I have certain things that aren't out right now but will be out on Halloween night. I have a bunch of stuff in storage in Oregon that won't make it back in time for Halloween, so I can't wait to put it all out next year. I welcome people to come see it and I hope others enjoy it as much as I do," Tara concluded.
