The Irving College Boys Basketball team was recognized at the Warren County Commission meeting for their winning season. The team attended the meeting Monday night and listened as commissioners read the resolution honoring them.

The Irving College Boys Basketball team was recognized at the County Commission meeting Monday night. 

Commissioners Randy England and Scott Rubley presented the Irving College Boys Basketball team with a resolution honoring them. The basketball team completed their 2023-2024 season with a perfect record of 15 wins and zero losses after a pre-season engagement with no losses. 

Rubley said the resolution at the meeting. It states, “Whereas the Irving College Tigers emerged as undefeated champions in post-season tournament play, and whereas the seventh and eighth grade boys placed fourth in the previous season, returning to practice and competition with strong resolve to achieve total domination in the 2023-24 tour and whereas it is altogether appropriate and proper in this Warren County Commission to celebrate and extol the exemplary work ethic and determination to achieve at the very high levels of the sport, as each and every player was fully dedicated to the success of the team and was prepared to make the personal sacrifices, in terms of effort and individual acclaim to promote and energize the Tiger spirit and pride of accomplishment.” 

The resolution recognized the starting five players: Anden Green, Dryston Cantrell, Peyton Rucker, Mason Petrovic and Trenton Martin. The full roster was also recognized including Eastlan Green, Christian Morales, Nicholas Casteneda, Mikey Fults, Tellus Roller, Eli Pack, Landin Reid and C.J. Tyson. The coaches, Tyler Morton and Jasmine Evans were also recognized. 

The resolution states the Warren County Commission extends its sincere congratulations to all student athletes, their coaches, fans and families for their practice of good sportsmanship and responsible, constructive citizenship and offer best wishes and encouragement in their future efforts. 

The whole team was in attendance and received a standing ovation by the County Commission.
