If you are out and about at Three Star Mall this week, you might have noticed signs of progress. Porter Roofing has begun its work in earnest to replace the aging roof.
At the eastern entrance of the mall (closest to the VA Clinic and Roses), some roofing debris came through the skylights this week causing maintenance to cordon off the affected section. Some heavy-duty sweeping of debris was required.
Gail Wanamaker, a Cato employee, noticed the roof debris as she entered the mall to begin her morning shift Wednesday. The bits of roofing had come through the skylights and were spread all through that bit of hallway. She contacted Jason Hillis, the county’s de facto mall manager, and praised his rapid response to the problem.
Shoe Sensation meanwhile has boxed up its salvageable inventory from the water damage it sustained over a month ago due to the leaking roof. Closed until further notice, it is uncertain at this time when, or even if, the store will reopen.
The TDOT rerouting of the traffic and roads in front of the mall is coming along as well. The roads have been paved and traffic is beginning to flow easily as drivers are getting used to the new layout.
