Twinkling lights, sparkling ornaments and beloved carols announce the joys of the Christmas season.

Just add the aromas of Yuletide and you have the perfect combination of sensory delights.  McMinnville Special Games (MSG) can help you find the right scents of the season.

Special needs adults are happily toiling in what resembles Santa’s workshop to serve up all-natural potpourris, a blend of aromatic flower petals, citrus rinds, cloves and spices like cinnamon. The sale of these lovingly handmade products, at $10 each, will generate “go money,” the funds needed to provide transportation, meals and admission tickets for the year-round activities for MSG participants, numbering 127 at last count.

“Just drop a few pieces from these packets into heated water and your house fills with the fresh, beautiful fragrances we associate with Christmas.   In Victorian England and America, potpourris like this served to welcome guests for Christmas dinners and parties,” said Holly McBride, one of the MSG volunteers.

“If you’re looking for that distinctive, quality gift for those special people on your shopping list, this is the answer,” McBride continued.  “And you’ll probably want to buy a couple of them for your own home or business.”

The simmer pot packs are now on sale at the MSG Enrichment Center, 225 Garfield Street, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“These gifts are made with pride and heart. I can imagine that teachers would love to receive these as gifts, and they make great stocking stuffers,”  McBride suggested. “For the person who has everything, the simmer pot stuffers are just right.”

The ready-to-use potpourris are on sale as long ss supplied last, she noted.
