Meals on Wheels gets donation of ice cream cups
meals on wheels.jpg
Volunteers from Centertown United Methodist Church offload 5,000 cups of ice cream treats for distribution to Meals on Wheels recipients. Serving from the truck are Mike Lorance, left, and Sam Mize. The ground crew included, from left, Meals on Wheels assistant executive director Tabitha Rucker, and Centertown UM volunteers James Perry and Sam Sampson. Assisting in transferring the cargo was Elaine Haischer, just out of camera range.
The 230 regular clients of Meals on Wheels can start their birthday parties early. That’s thanks to 5,000 cups of donated ice cream festively decorated and labeled as Birthday Cake Remix. The distribution of the 7.5-ounce frozen desserts could start as early as today (Friday, Nov. 8).
