A woman who led police on a chase through the Rite-Aid parking lot appeared in court after being charged with four counts of driving while license was revoked, possession of unlawful drug paraphernalia, evading arrest, reckless endangerment with a vehicle and two charges of violating probation.
Heather Diane Polson, 36, appeared in Judge Bill Locke’s court for the charges with four cases being bound over to the grand jury and two probation violations revoking her to serve jail time. In July, Polson was arrested three separate times.
On July 13, the arrest warrant states deputy Chris McCormick made contact with a white Buick driven by Polson on Beersheba Street. McCormick had prior knowledge of Polson’s license being revoked due to an earlier traffic stop where she had previously been issued a citation by McCormick. A traffic stop was conducted and Polson was taken into custody for driving on a revoked license.
On July 19, another police report says officer Andy Aguilar conducted a traffic stop on a white Buick due to the passenger not wearing his seatbelt. Aguilar spoke with the driver of the vehicle, Heather Polson, and the passenger Chad Sandlin.
While checking Polson’s license, Aguilar discovered it was revoked in November 2017 for a theft of a vehicle or part thereof out of Warren County and she had one previous driving on a suspended license offense in December 2013, also out of Warren County.
Aguilar knew Polson was arrested by deputy Chris McCormick in July for driving on a revoked license. Due to the habitual nature of Polson’s driving offenses, Aguilar placed her under arrest in lieu of a citation for driving on a revoked license.
A third warrant states on July 31, K-9 deputy Jared Jacobs observed Polson, who was driving a 2000 Buick Lesabre, turn illegally right on a red light on Morford Street onto North Chancery Street in front of a truck. Jacobs attempted to perform a traffic stop on the vehicle as it turned through a parking lot at Rite-Aid, which was occupied by customers of the store.
The vehicle then accelerated through the park lot onto Locust Street where it passed a vehicle stopped at a stop sign before turning onto Spring Street and passing a stopped motorist. The vehicle became disabled during the pursuit and turned into a residence on Spring Street where officers performed a felony stop. A search of the vehicle revealed a used syringe.
Polson was bound to the grand jury but has not been indicted yet.
