A police pursuit ended in a horrific crash early Thursday morning, resulting in two fatalities. Phyllis Prater, the co-owner of Prater’s BBQ and wife of 10th District County Commissioner Gary Prater, was killed in the crash, which occurred before 7 a.m. at the intersection of Jerry Cooper Hwy. and Castle St. According to reports, Prater’s vehicle was struck by a vehicle whose driver was preliminarily identified by the Tennessee Highway Patrol and Tennessee Bureau of Investigation as Brandon Thomas James, 24, formerly of Murfreesboro.
