A McMinnville resident was killed in a bush hogging incident Thursday afternoon.

According to Warren County Sheriff’s Department, Glenn Butcher, 88, was bush hogging a field at his residence on Old Harrison Ferry Road when the tractor he was riding caught fire.

“Upon arrival, deputy Bristol Davis extinguished the fire with a fire extinguisher,” said deputy Kelly Carter. “The male subject was trapped underneath the bush hog. The victim’s name was Glenn Butcher. Witnesses stated that Mr. Butcher had been bush hogging when the tractor caught on fire and he tried to get off when he was run over by the tractor tire.”

“The tractor continued to roll and the victim ended up trapped underneath the bush hog when it came to a stop,” said Carter. “Mr. Butcher was removed from underneath the bush hog where he was pronounced deceased by (Warren County) EMS.”

The incident occurred on Sept. 22 at 2:40 p.m.
