Water levels rise after rainy week
Dam is not dry.jpg
Nikki Childers photo Just a week after the dam was seen without any water running over it, rain spurred by Hurricane Helene gave the McMinnville Water Supply Dam a boost in water flow. Director of Waste and Wastewater Ricky Morton reported water levels had risen over a foot and 4.4 inches of rain had been received by early Friday afternoon.
After persistent dry conditions for Warren County for weeks, rain from Hurricane Helene provided welcome relief. Last week, the McMinnville Water Supply Dam was a testament to dry conditions when no water flowed across the top of it for the first time in many years. Rainfall began Thursday evening and, by Friday afternoon, 4.4 inches of precipitation had been recorded in the area and water levels had risen by at least a foot according to Water and Wastewater Director Ricky Morton.
