WCHS students ready to perform Thursday

Aligning with the recent Academy Awards, a touch of Hollywood will come to McMinnville on Thursday night and Friday afternoon at the Warren County High School auditorium. WCHS’s new drama department, under the leadership of Lori Christensen, also known as Ms. California, is proud to present its first offering, “Hooray For Hollywood.”Drama students have been working hard to recreate memorable scenes from Hollywood movies such as “Harry Potter,” “Grease,” “The Wizard of Oz,” and “Titanic.” Dance sequences will also be performed from “Black Swan,” “Austin Powers,” “O Brother, Where Art Thou” and “Harry Potter.”In addition, students have written their own narrations, and will act as academy presenters.

Pacesetters building inches closer to surplus

The location formerly known as the Pacesetters building is one successful read away from being declared surplus by the City of McMinnville. During Tuesday evening’s regularly scheduled Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting, the matter was brought forth after it had been recommended by the Building and Grounds Committee in the last February meeting. The committee determined, through data collected by a void analysis, the property was best used as retail or commercial real estate rather than repurposed by the city.
